THIS IS A NEW ASSEMBLED EXAMINATION. The eligible list resulting from this examination will cancel any existing list and may last approximately one year but can be extended.

Supplemental Questionnaire: A properly completed Supplemental Questionnaire must be submitted with each application. Failure to submit the Supplemental Questionnaire will result in disqualification.

THE POSITION

T his flexibly-staffed class series specification describes the journey-level classification in the Application Systems Engineer series. Under direction, provides advanced technical acumen; to assist with the architecture and design of business solutions, and to develop and support the County’s information systems. Application Systems Engineer II’s are responsible for providing advanced level contribution in the analysis, design, development, and implementation of enterprise-class, multi-tier systems, and projects; and perform related duties as required.

THE VACANCIES

We are filling multiple Application Services Engineer II positions within several units under Engineering, Systems Analysis, Business Analysis and Quality Assurance career tracks.Under general supervision, Application Systems Engineers provide support for the County’s information systems. Application Systems Engineer Is are responsible for participating in designing, developing, analyzing, implementing, and maintaining software, including enterprise class, multi-tier systems; and perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education :

Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in MIS, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.

AND

Experience :

The equivalent of two (2) years full-time experience designing, developing, analyzing, supporting, and implementing complex software systems.

Substitution:

Three (3) additional years of full-time experience designing, developing, analyzing, supporting, and implementing complex software systems may be substituted for the education requirement.

NOTE : The Civil Service Commission may modify the above Minimum Qualifications in the announcement of an examination.

EXAMINATION COMPONENTS

THE EXAMINATION WILL CONSIST OF THE FOLLOWING STEPS:

A review of applicants' application to verify possession of minimum requirements. Those candidates who possess the minimum requirements for the class will move on to the next step in the examination process. A review of the supplemental questionnaire to determine the best qualified. Those candidates considered the best qualified will move on to the final step in the examination process. This is a pass/fail exam component. An oral examination which will be weighted as 100% of the candidates' final examination score. The oral examination will be administered virtually and may contain situational exercises.

Candidates must attain a qualifying rating on each portion of this recruitment.
