Position Description*** SPECIAL NOTE: This is a project position expected to end December 31, 2027, unless extended. ***The City of Tacoma's Public Works Department is seeking a full-time Business Services Analyst, Associate. This role involves providing entry level professional analysis related to business operations including accounting, budget, procurement, department program administration, quality assurance administration, and financial analysis.

Essential Duties:
- Conduct financial analysis; handle financial administration for projects, including construction projects.
- Support project managers with compiling project documentation and developing solicitation and contract documents.
- Contribute to efforts in collecting project support documents, organizing files, and preparing documentation for audits.
- Research and analyze data to generate original reports.
- Assist with procurement processes for the division, including review of proposals, bid specs, Request for Qualifications (RFQ), Request for Proposals (RFP), and Request for Bids (RFB)
- Create and maintain spreadsheets; maintain databases, and reports from the same.
This role necessitates proficiency in project and data management, recognizing the significance of data in decision making. It involves supporting the development of strategic approaches for leadership review, adhering to City policies and procedures, Tacoma Municipal Code, and effectively collaborating with various social, cultural, and/or economic groups, in support of the diverse community we serve.
Applicants must demonstrate an understanding of cultural responsiveness, change management, government systems, data analysis, program development, research, best practices, and facilitation.
Qualifications Minimum Education* Bachelor's degree in public or business administration or directly related field
Minimum Experience* 1 year of professional experience in public or business administration or directly related field

*Equivalency: 1 year of experience = 1 year of education
Desired Qualifications Knowledge and skills in data software, including SAP, Ariba, PivotTables in Excel, Smartsheet, and Tableau.
Experience researching and analyzing policies, laws, rules, or regulations; data management and reporting, and/or business process analysis.
Knowledge & SkillsAnalysisData management, analysis, reporting, and visualization. Use data and information in a clear and rational process to assess and understand issues, evaluate options, form accurate conclusions, and make decisions. Gather, assemble, analyze and evaluate facts to draw logical conclusions, make proper recommendations and prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive written reports which require displaying and presenting statistical, graphical, and other reporting methods to audiences of varying technical sophistication.

Compile and maintain reports, records, and various other forms of pertinent information in an organized and professional manner.

Other Employment Information
Direct Deposit: Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule by direct deposit.
Salary Increases: Based on satisfactory job performance, the City provides for a regular progression of salary increases for most classifications according to the salary schedule.
Union Affiliation: Many job classifications are covered by union security provisions which require union membership, dues, or payment of equivalent service fees.
