OverviewWe looking for a hard-working individual to join our Transportation/Traffic Services team as a Civil Engineer I or II!
In this role you will focus on the development, maintenance, and extension of the County's Infrastructure Asset Management System with opportunities to participate in other diverse projects and workgroups within the Department. The IAM (Infrastructure Asset Management) System is a core resource for supporting the Engineering and Road and Bridge Departments in efficiently managing roadway assets (such as roads, bridges, guardrails, etc.) through their entire lifecycle. Larimer County is dedicated to being good stewards of the public resources which make up our roadways and the IAM system is a vital component of this stewardship.
The candidate can expect the hiring pay rate to be: CE I is $35.5829-$42.6955 (Hourly), $74,012-$88,815 (Annual). CE II $39.1412-$46.9695 (Hourly), $81,414-$97,696 (Annual).
The typical schedule for this position is 8:00am - 4:30pm Monday to Friday.
ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll be doing:
- Developing and maintaining asset definitions and QA/QC within the IAM system.
- Supporting the development of asset lifecycle maintenance strategies using engineering concepts to proactively plan the type and timing of various maintenance activities.
- Supporting the creation of periodic inspection protocols for assets.
- Extracting and reporting data to support decision-making efforts within the Road and Bridge and Engineering Departments.
- Utilizing design software such as ESRI ArcPro, Roads and Highways, AutoCAD, etc.
- Designing and overseeing small safety-related improvements.
- Supporting the development of the Annual Safety Report, crash analysis, and intersection analysis.
- Assisting with updates to and tracking of the Larimer County Comprehensive Safety Action Plan and current Larimer County Transportation Plan.
- Supporting project planning and development of grant applications.

What we're looking for:
- Knowledge of standard principles and practices of civil engineering as applied to public works or infrastructure projects.
- Understanding of asset management concepts related to roadway infrastructure.
- Strong ability to develop queries and filters to extract and manipulate data in support of departmental needs.
- Experience using ArcGIS Pro and ESRI’s Roads and Highways software.
- Ability to work across various civil engineering areas such as drainage, roadways, bridges, and traffic.
- Commitment to providing professional customer service to clients and the public.
- Clear, concise, and persuasive communication skills-both verbal and written.
- Creativity in developing effective solutions to complex issues.

Civil Engineering I
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent education, from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering required.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire required.
- Engineer-Intern Certification preferred.
Civil Engineering II
- At least three (3) years of experience as a Civil Engineer I in Larimer County, or in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.
- Engineer-Intern Certification required.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado preferred.
- Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Civil Engineering or a related field required.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Driver's License.
