Position DescriptionThis position is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic patient flow and serving as the primary contact for patients. Responsible for scheduling appointments, preparing necessary paperwork before the patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position is responsible for processing charges for clinic services, filing insurance claims, responding to requests for information from patients and insurance companies and maintaining related information for the department. Employees may have cash-handling responsibilities.
Major/Essential Functions- Answer incoming calls, schedule appointments, and relay messages to the appropriate nursing staff.
- Accurately enter and update patient demographics to ensure clean insurance claim submissions.
- Respond quickly to patient and insurance company inquiries, including prior authorizations and referrals.
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain required authorizations before scheduling appointments.
- Make outgoing calls to patients for appointment reminders, rescheduling, and general clinic communication?
- Document all communications in EMR.
- Handle daily cash transactions, including accepting payments and performing end-of-day cash counts.
- Attend and actively participate in monthly departmental meetings.
- Maintain current knowledge of department and HSC policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
Required QualificationsA High School diploma or GED. 1-year Customer Service, office, or related experience. Additional education may substitute for the experience requirement.
