We are currently seeking to fill one (1) Fire District Program and Projects Coordinator vacancy within the Fire Protection District.

The incumbent will design, develop and implement strategic outreach and recruitment programs, as well as research hiring best practices and outreach methods to market ConFire as an employer of choice. This role works collaboratively with suppression personnel in the Outreach Team.

The employment list established as a result of this examination will remain in effect for up to six (6) months.

Minimum Qualifications

License Required: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License may be required based on assignment. If applicable, out of State valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License will be accepted during the application process.

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major closely aligned to the program area or assignment.

Experience: Five (5) years of full-time (or its equivalent) experience in program or project management with operational responsibility for timeline, budget and scope; which must have included one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience.

Substitution for Education: Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two (2) years. No substitution may be allowed for the required lead or supervisory experience.

Selection Process

Depending on the number of applications received, an oral board may be convened to evaluate and select the best-qualified candidates for invitation to the next phase of the recruitment.

Assessment Type: The assessment type and process will depend on the number of qualified candidates and may include an online multiple-choice assessment and/or a virtual oral examination. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications and advance to the assessment phase may be invited to participate in an online Multiple-Choice Assessment designed to evaluate key competencies relevant to the Program and Projects Coordinator classification. These competencies may include, but are not limited to: Delivering Results, Using Technology, Taking Initiative, Attention to Detail, Project Management, Oral Communication, and Critical Thinking. Candidates must obtain a minimum passing score of 70% in each competency area and an overall average score of 70% or higher to continue in the process. (Weighted 100%).Departmental Hiring Interview: Tentatively scheduled for July 2025

DISASTER SERVICE WORKER

All Contra Costa County employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law. Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
