THE POSITION: Under the general supervision of a Program Assistant, the incumbents will support Ambulatory Care’s Quality team and involvement in the CHARMED blood pressure monitoring study.

The incumbents will manage the team’s involvement in the project, coordinating study activities in partnership with the UCSF study team, supporting in-clinic activities during the trial, and facilitating stakeholder engagement.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable meeting documentation standards. Finally, they will be willing and able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

EDUCATIONAL INCENTIVE: Some positions may be eligible for educational incentive. This incentive may be 2.5%, 3.5%, or 5% for incumbents in eligible positions based on completion of an Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's degree that is not required for the classification.

Community Health Worker is represented by the Service Employees' International Union (SEIU) and is eligible for overtime compensation.

The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill current and future Regular (including Temporary and Fixed-term), Intermittent, and Extra Help vacancies for these positions only. There are currently two (2) intermittent vacancies within Health Care Agency - Ambulatory Care.

An Intermittent Employee is a person employed for intermittent/temporary work on a day-to-day basis.

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

• Travels to meet and engage with patients in clinic settings;

• Assists with the recruitment materials and recruiting research participants;
• Collects data via surveys, focus groups, and interviews;
• Coordinates research operations, like patient outreach and data collection;
• Coordinates research team meetings, taking notes, managing project timelines, and ensuring follow-up of deliverables;
• Under direct supervision, performs basic statistical and data analysis;
• Assists with report preparation and / or analysis for internal constituents;
• Reports on study progress to members of the study team and division;
• Presents results to members of the study team and division;
• Coordinates research study activities;
• Coordinates meetings to discuss study progress;
• Manages follow-up tasks between study meetings to ensure adherence to the study timeline;
• Communicates barriers to task completion and identifies alternative approaches;
• Collects primary research data and prepares it for analysis;
• Recruits patient participants for the research study;
• Conducts surveys and interviews with participants;

• Conducts follow-up visits or phone calls to check on patients' progress, remind them of appointments, and reinforce care plan goals;
• Accurately documents patient interactions and progress in alignment with organizational protocols and requirements;
• Meets productivity and quality goals set by agency;
• Participates in care team huddles, meetings, and required training; and
• Performs related duties as required.

Typical Qualifications

These are entrance requirements to the exam process and assure neither continuance in the process nor placement on an eligible list.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE

High school diploma, GED or equivalent, PLUS any combination of education and experience which has led to the acquisition of the required knowledge and abilities.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Willing to work out in the field with at risk populations which may include adolescents, people with disabilities, homeless populations, individuals with chronic illnesses, low-income individuals and families, etc.
• Must possess or obtain a valid California driver license by date of hire.
• Experience and ability to work in a Windows environment and using Microsoft Word required.
• Bilingual English/Spanish
• Strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills
• Attention-to-detail on the application must be demonstrated

DESIRED:

• Experience working with diverse populations or in a similar role.
• Knowledge of public health and/or social science topics
• Experience conducting patient-facing research in a community or safety-net setting
• Acquiring knowledge of research functions
• Acquiring ability to perform research analysis duties
• Experience with qualitative and basic quantitative analysis

• Develop trusting and effective working relationships with a diverse client population;
• Work effectively independently and in a team environment;

WRITTEN EXAMINATION - 100%: An online, un-proctored job-related written examination will be administered to test candidates' knowledge of language usage, interviews/confidentiality, medical knowledge and terminology, interpersonal relations, and filing. Candidates must earn a score of seventy percent (70%) or higher to qualify for placement on the eligible list. Applicants successfully completing the examination process may be placed on an eligible list for a period of one (1) year.
