Department: Operations

Section: Administration

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

Reports to: Assistant General Manager, Operations & Maintenance

Supervises the following positions: Provides technical functional direction over and provides training to less experienced staff

DEFINITION
Under general direction, to develop, implement, and maintain an Asset Management Program (AMP) for managing assets. The incumbent will be knowledgeable in Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) applications and guide its implementation. Key responsibilities include the input of newly-acquired assets, tracking of existing assets, accounting for their disposition, review of schedules, and maintaining other detailed analytical reporting. The Asset Management Program Coordinator will provide leadership, guidance, and technical expertise to the Asset Management Implementation Team, and related work as required.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
this journey level classification is responsible for independently performing technical and administrative analyses and studies; researches and analyses practices and procedures and develops recommendations for organizational, operational, policy, and procedural improvements; and conducts needs analyses, feasibility studies, and evaluations for assigned program, projects, and activities. Incumbents independently develop recommendations and present final products for supervisor and management review.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

License and Certifications: Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, to be maintained throughout employment.

Education: Equivalent to a High School diploma and supplemented by college level coursework in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Computer Science, or other relevant field.

Experience: Three (3) years of asset management experience. Experience in a water utility environment is highly desirable.
