ABOUT THE POSITION

Under the general supervision of the Admi ni strative Services Manager, the Accounting Technician’s focus will be providing technical and complex fiscal and clerical support to the Fire Department’s administrative team - Finance and Personnel . Some duties may include:









Most work is performed on the computer using a variety of databases which include Excel, MUNIS ERP, ExecuTime , CrewSense /Vector Solutions, and Google . Advanced knowledge of Excel is required and while knowledge of other systems is highly desirable and are not required , the ability to learn new computer systems quickly, successfully enter data accurately, and extract data efficiently from several systems is essential.

There is currently one (1) full time (37.5 hours per week) regular hire Accounting Technician position within the Fire Department. This is an on-site position , Monday through Friday schedule, reporting to the Marin County Fire Department Administrat ion locat ion - 1600 Los Gamos, San Rafael .

ABOUT YOU

Our Highly Qualified Candidate : is a reliable, detail-oriented self-starter who can work both independently and as a team member to achieve our department’s goals. We are looking for someone who is able to maintain accurate records, analyze data, prepare accurate reports, and be proficient with spreadsheets, and has experience working with varied financial transactions including compiling and reconciling complex financial data. The successful candidate will be organized, dependable, flexible and customer-focused with the ability to schedule and execute tasks effectively under fast-paced conditions. Proficiency with Munis or other large automated financial systems is also highly desirable.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Typically, equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college (60 semester or 90 quarter units) with major course work in accounting, bookkeeping or a field related to the work AND two (2) years of accounting or financial office support experience. Additional experience as outlined above may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis.
