A New Opportunity and what you’ll do...Join our team as a
Cyber Security Analyst and help advance the City’s investment in modern security operations and cutting-edge cyber tools to protect critical systems and infrastructure. In this position, you’ll play a critical role in protecting the City’s data, systems, and services by proactively identifying risks, responding to cybersecurity incidents, and driving security improvements across networks and infrastructure. You’ll lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of security policies, processes, and procedures to ensure the integrity of our information systems. Your work will include continuously evaluating external threats, identifying vulnerabilities, and ensuring timely detection and response to system failures, malicious activity, and other cybersecurity threats-helping to ensure the continuity of the essential services our community depends on.
This position may require working occasional nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
Key responsibilities include managing network security devices, encryption systems, and key management processes, as well as overseeing incident monitoring, security audits, and disaster recovery planning. You’ll coordinate emergency operations, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and lead cybersecurity initiatives through project management, staff training, and organization-wide awareness programs. As the primary liaison with external cybersecurity partners, you’ll also prepare security reports and regularly evaluate the City’s compliance posture to maintain a proactive and resilient security program.

Experience and Qualifications for Success! A combination of experience, training and experience equivalent to a
bachelor's degree in computer science or a closely related field; and
five years of increasingly responsible experience in network security, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, and content filtering.
Experience in a medium-sized organization (100-999 employees) with multiple departments and a CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) certification and/or other similar security-related certifications, as determined by the department, are highly desirable.
LICENSELicense: Possession of, or ability to obtain, and maintain a valid California Driver License.
As a condition of employment, selected candidate may be required to undergo and successfully complete an extensive post-offer Police Department background investigation, including Live Scan fingerprinting. (A felony or misdemeanor conviction may disqualify the candidate from City employment.)
