In addition, to its direct clinical services, DHS also runs the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Agency and the County's 911 emergency response system, as well as Housing for Health and the Office of Diversion and Re-entry, each with a meaningful role in connecting vulnerable populations, including those released from correctional and institutional settings, to supportive housing.

DEFINITION:

Provides supportive speech-language pathology treatment services to assist patients with communication and/or swallowing disorders to attain, regain, or maintain communication and swallowing function or to adjust to their disabilities.

Requirements

Requirement to Qualify:

LICENSE(S):

Current licensure by the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant.

Applicants must attach a legible photocopy of the licenses issued at the time of filing or email the analyst at jsaldana@dhs.lacounty.gov within 7 calendar days from filing online -OR- applicants must ensure the Licenses Section of the application is completed. Provide the title of your required license, the number, date of issue, date of expiration and the name of the issuing agency for the required licenses as specified in the requirement.

Physical Class III - Moderate:

Moderate: includes standing or walking most of the time, with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and reaching; includes working on irregular surfaces, occasionally lifting objects weighing over 25 pounds and frequently lifting of 10-25 pounds

Desirable Qualifications: Additional credit will be given to applicants who possess the following desirable qualifications in excess of the requirement:

Additional Information

Examination Content:

Examination will consist of an evaluation of education based upon application information, desirable qualifications and supplemental questionnaire weighted 100%.

Achieving a passing score of 70% or higher is needed to be placed on the eligible register.
Eligibility Information:
Applications will be processed as they are received and added to the list accordingly.

Scores will be valid for 12 months from the date of results notice.

No person may compete in this examination more than once every twelve (12) months.
