The Intelligence Analyst directly interfaces with law enforcement, emergency services and homeland security partners and customers by analyzing, identifying, creating, and sharing relevant and actionable intelligence information, assessments, briefings, and investigative support. You will work independently and with teams reading, analyzing, interpreting, evaluating research findings, performing statistical analysis, analytical research, and link analysis for potential criminal activity trends. You will compile data and support real time operations utilizing acceptable criminal intelligence analysis techniques informing a variety of field units with information via available technology. In addition, working collaboratively, you will conduct functions for integration of intelligence practices into various efforts at Wake County Sheriff's Office, including but not limited to command posts, Emergency Operation Centers, technical and real time operations, investigations, etc. The position requires strong interpersonal skills to develop relationships throughout the federal, state and local law enforcement, homeland security, and intelligence communities.

- Facilitate a high level of initiative, effort and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently
- Work with minimal supervision and demonstrate responsible behavior and attention to detail
- Conduct intelligence analysis and prepare investigative reports and analytical charts or graphs which may display patterns, events, identities or activities of criminal groups and individuals
- Devise and initiate an overwatch posture providing real time support for resources in the field engaged in critical or high priority incidents for a variety of partners providing support from the Intelligence Unit
- Proficiently perform in a technology-led and intelligence-led environment using a variety of technologies to include communications platforms and awareness tools with the ability to ensure comprehension, summarizing and writing/editing with all systems used by the Wake County Sheriff's Office
- Handle multiple projects simultaneously and use good judgment in prioritizing work assignments, organizing and presenting accurate information in logical sequence
- Contribute knowledge of criminal, terrorist, environmental, public health, social, and other problems affecting the development of local and state human and physical resources and projects
- Maintain knowledge and awareness of important local, national and international events that may have a local impact on the community
- Develop and maintain relationship with the intelligence community at federal, state, county and municipal levels to share information on criminal activities or suspected criminals under investigation

The Basics (Required Education and Experience) - Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field
- One year of technical or administrative experience with a law enforcement agency, criminal justice agency or related field
- Hold or be able to obtain within three months of employment a DCI certification, and maintain certification throughout employment
- Once employed complete the Criminal Intelligence Systems Operating Policies (28 CFR, Part 23), and the requirements for intelligence file creation, retention, dissemination and purging
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) - Two years of technical or administrative experience with a law enforcement agency, criminal justice agency or related field
How Will We Know You're 'The One'? - Knowledge of law enforcement systems and databases
- Understanding of real time emergency operations as it relates to intelligence work, law enforcement or related field
- Knowledge of a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System and public safety radio systems
- Understanding of Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) procedures
- Knowledge of the Civil/Criminal Justice Automation System (CCJAS) software application
