We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Release Specialist to join our team. This position’s primary focus is on the quality control, upload, and maintenance of digital media, including body-worn camera footage, dash-camera footage, scene photos, and more. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that our digital content is accurately managed and uploaded in a timely manner. As you grow in this position, you will expand your skills and knowledge, ultimately learning the intricacies of redacting and releasing digital media to stakeholders, including the District Attorney's Office, other Criminal Justice Agencies, and the public. Ideal candidates will be tech-savvy and possess a keen eye for detail.

The starting salary range for this position is $54,012 to $64,815.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Assists department personnel and the public by performing record checks, releasing police reports, and mailing out requested reports to outside agencies and insurance companies in accordance with the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA)/Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act (CCJRA) and provides general information regarding department policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Reviews and processes requests for Body Worn Camera and other audio/video digital files with local, state, and federal laws.
• Purges criminal justice records in accordance with approved Retention Schedule.
• Acts as a resource or expert in a specific program area, providing technical guidance to less experienced staff.
• Performs special studies and projects as assigned and required.
• Processes court documents related to the sealing or expungement of adult and juvenile records.
• Redacts information from records in compliance with CORA, CCJRA, and other Federal, state, and local laws. Maintains accuracy, confidentiality, and security of all records and work area.
• Attends training as necessary to maintain department standards for records release.
• Performs duties of a Sheriff’s Records Technician as necessary.

Nonessential Functions

• When a local declaration of emergency or disaster is declared by the Board of Commissioners, all Larimer County employees may be required to work as a Disaster Service Worker.
• Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years experience in records management, a directly related field, or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Notary Public commission within three (3) months of hire required.
• NCIC/CCIC certification within three (3) months of hire required.
• CORA/CCJRA training within twelve (12) months of hire required.
• Type at least 50 words per minute required.
• Prior transcription experience preferred.
