Position DescriptionThe Managing Director of the F. Marie Hall Institute for Rural and Community Health (FMHIRCH) provides strategic and operational leadership across a broad portfolio of initiatives focused on improving health access and outcomes in rural and underserved communities throughout TTUHSC's service region. Reporting to the Senior Vice President for Rural and Community Affairs, this role serves as a key member of the Rural Affairs leadership team and plays a vital role in aligning the Institute's operations with the broader goals of the Division. Plans and directs the overall operation of a complex area/department and provides leadership for staff members. Under executive direction, performs highly varied administrative duties involving the use of independent judgment and professional skills. Responsible for all employees assigned to area.
Major/Essential Functions- Provide day-to-day oversight of FMHIRCH operations while aligning with Division strategy, contributing to Rural Affairs leadership planning and initiatives, and ensuring integration into shared events, reports, and communications.
- Lead FMHIRCH program operations in coordination with Rural Affairs personnel, while supporting performance monitoring, compliance, and the use of internal data strategies to drive reporting and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate FMHIRCH efforts with other Rural Affairs units, actively participate in shared services like research and marketing, and help clarify scopes to reduce duplication across projects and stakeholders.
- Engage rural health systems to ensure initiatives are relevant and responsive, leveraging clinical administration expertise to provide technical support and cultivating partnerships that expand access, workforce, and technology solutions.
- Identify aligned funding opportunities, lead or assist in grant development and reporting, and collaborate with internal and external partners to create programs focused on rural infrastructure, access, and outcomes.
- Represent FMHIRCH to internal and external audiences, including university units, funders, and rural communities, while building trust-based relationships across academic, clinical, and community partners.
- Supervise FMHIRCH staff, coordinate financial and compliance functions with Rural Affairs leadership, and ensure alignment with TTUHSC policies and sponsor requirements related to budgets, personnel, and risk.
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree required. Seven years of progressively responsible management experience are required. Education beyond the bachelor's level may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.
