A Sr. Professional Engineer job is available with the City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works department in the Transportation Management division. The Sr. Professional Engineer will lead the development and implementation of the traffic signal operation, inclusive of signal timing, signal design, traffic study, Traffic Impact Assessment review, project management, Smart City initiative, Traffic Management Center Operations, and plan review.

Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field
- Three (3) years of professional civil engineering experience as registered professional engineer of which 2 (two) must be within or related to the area of assigned responsibility.
- Possession of registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. If licensed in another state, continued employment will be contingent upon obtaining registration as a Professional Engineer within the State of Texas within six months of employment.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Texas driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications: - Knowledge of the latest versions of the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD), Highway Capacity Manual (TRB HCM 2010), AASHTO Manual for Geometric Designs of Highways and Streets and Microsoft Office
- Skills in Traffic Engineering software. Such as Synchro, SIM Traffic, MAX View, Kinetics, advanced traffic management software, signal performance software, etc.
- Ability to take projects from a conceptual state through construction, deliver the projects on time and on budget, identify and address risks to project design, schedule, or budget
- Ability to provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers and maintain productive working relationships. Excellent interpersonal communication skills including public speaking and the ability to communicate technical information in a non-technical manner
- Ability to organize, analyze, interpret, and evaluate civil engineering problems and provide practical, cost-effective solutions
The Sr. Professional Engineer job responsibilities include: - Manage all aspects of traffic signal operations, signal-related projects, annual signal retiming program, and management of ITS devices, including TMC.
- Supervise staff responsible for the implementation of the citywide signal timing program
- Work with internal and external stakeholders/customers to resolve issues related to traffic signals, service requests, traffic impact study review, and traffic engineering.
- Manage budget, design, grant application, and projects related to signals and ITS devices.
- Lead Smart City initiative related to traffic operations.
- Other duties as assigned include supporting the engineering manager.
