Description

Under general supervision, investigates and enforces codes and regulations relating to solid waste collection, rubbish and weed nuisances, illegal temporary signs, the City’s Fats, Oils and Grease Control Program, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permits, and other environmental concerns.

Essential Functions Include But Are Not Limited To



Minimum Qualifications

Three years of experience in work involving public contact, preferably including experience in the field of solid waste collection and disposal; or an equivalent combination of experience and education in code compliance, which provides the desired knowledge and abilities. DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS HIGHLY DESIRABLE
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS Due to the nature of the work, incumbents must have the ability to: use both hands, arms and legs; sit, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, bend and reach above his/her head; must have the ability to remove abandoned property such as furniture, trash, or boxes; remove cast iron manhole covers weighing approximately 90 pounds. Work may involve exposure to hazardous chemicals.

Candidates must achieve a passing score in every component of the selection process in order to be placed on the eligible list. The Human Resources Department may waive one or more examination components. When one weighted examination component is waived, the remaining section will receive a weight of 100%.
