The Department:

The Finance Department administers the financial affairs of the City of Santa Clara, including City-owned public utilities. The department is comprised of five divisions, Administrative Services, Budget and Treasury, Accounting, Municipal Services, and Purchasing. Together these divisions carry out the mission of the Finance Department to ensure that the financial/fiscal activities of the City are performed, recorded, and presented in compliance with professional and ethical standards.

The Position:

The Finance Department is seeking to recruit a Senior Management Analyst in the Accounting Division to support personnel management, general accounting, and accounts payable. The Senior Management Analyst will also be involved in the financial analysis of special grants and fund accounting and prepare periodic and annual reports for the City, its Agencies and Corporations, and the annual State Controller Reports. The incumbent would be a contributor of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report which includes Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A), basic financial statements including notes, and supplementary information.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong accounting background and possess a bachelor's degree in a related field. This position will be required to perform high-level technical support and complex financial analysis related to accounting. It would be especially valuable if the candidate is familiar with governmental accounting and related Governmental Accounting Standards Boards (GASB) pronouncements. Candidates should have strong attention to detail, solid written and verbal communications, and must be deadline-oriented. Responsibilities


As a member of the City's Unclassified Service, this is an "at-will" position and the incumbent serves at the discretion of the City Manager.

The annual salary range for this position is $138,593.04 - $179,371.20. This position may be filled at or near the minimum of the salary range.

Desirable Qualifications

A Master's degree in Public or Business Administration or closely related field is desirable.

Certifications/Licenses
Possession of an appropriate, valid California Class C driver's license is required at time of appointment and for duration of employment.
