This position will be located at the Missouri Geological Survey, 111 Fairgrounds Rd., Rolla MO 65401 with significant time in the field.

As a Geologic Hazards geologist in the Environmental Geology Section, you will work to perform geologic studies and investigations that describe the occurrences of and potential for geologic hazards in Missouri through office and field work, digital mapping, data collection, data analysis and interpretation. You will produce geologic maps and mapping products which highlight geologic hazards such as landslides, sinkholes, mine collapse, and earthquake hazards. Other major components of the position include maintaining geologic hazards databases, preparing technical reports, coordinating with other agencies, responding to citizen and legislative inquiries, attending meetings, seeking new funding opportunities to support geologic hazards education and understanding in Missouri, and conducting training and presentations to educate the public on environmental geology and geologic hazard issues in Missouri. You must be capable of learning to use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other laboratory equipment involved in geologic sciences and work independently. This position does not supervise other staff but is required to possess, or be able to possess within 6 months, a Missouri Registered Geologist’s (RG) license. As part of the Environmental Geology team, you will support the core values of the Geological Survey Program which include Technical Competency, Service, Professionalism, Ingenuity, and Cooperation and the mission and values of the Division and Department.



This position requires eligibility for licensure as a Registered Geologist in the State of Missouri.
