MOS Codes: 001382 (Navy), 4T011 (Air Force), 68K (Army)

Education and Experience : Bachelors or higher of Science in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field and one (1) year of professional laboratory experience.

Licenses and Certificates : Registration as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (MT (ASCP)) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) by the National Credentialing Agency. CLIA High Complexity-General Supervisor qualified within one (1) year of appointment. Class C Driver's License or equivalent from another state.

General Purpose

Under general supervision, perform high complexity testing, analysis and interpretation of a variety of laboratory tests.

Typical Duties

Analyze, interpret and report the results of a variety of high complexity testing procedures in the areas of chemistry, diagnostic immunology, microscopy, hematology, microbiology, mycology, parasitology and pathology. Involves: Receive and test specimens in compliance with operational guidelines related to specimen integrity, handling and stability. Maintain and monitor test logs. Communicate test results to medical providers. Prepare media, broths, chemical solutions, and reagents according to proscribed procedures. Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment on a regular basis. Perform quality control (QC) on testing kits, strips, reagents and equipment. Order and maintain laboratory reagents, test kits, supplies, and chemicals. Participate in the development and initiation of new testing procedures and protocols. Assist in the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) used in the laboratory and the sexually transmitted disease laboratory. Assist in the development and initiation of quality assurance and quality control programs. Ensure compliance with Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act 1988 (CLIA) regulations, and ancillary federal and state guidelines. Participate in CLIA proficiency testing. Attend required training in accordance with federal and state standards. Maintain safety regulations manuals, MSDS logs, quarterly inspections reports and related documents.

Salary Range: $52,280.00 - 80,350.00 per year.
The starting salary is generally at the beginning of the salary range.
