DEPUTY UTILITIES DIRECTOR OVERVIEW

The Town of Prescott Valley is seeking an experienced and dynamic Deputy Director of Utilities to help lead the Utilities Department. In a unique model, the Town contracts the day-to-day operations of its water and wastewater operations.

As Deputy Director, you will assist in leading a diverse and dedicated professional team and help develop the department's long-term planning, goals, policies, and budgets that align with the Town's strategic objectives and community needs. In addition, you will provide key oversight of field operations, customer service, and billing, and play a central role in delivering essential water and wastewater services to residents and businesses.

Typical Qualification

General Qualifications

Solid municipal administrative experience and strong knowledge of water and wastewater systems, including operations, engineering, and water resources.

Experienced in Water, Wastewater, Recharge, and Reclaimed Operations and Management

Minimum 7 years of experience in water and wastewater operations and management, including 5 years in a supervisory role. Contract administration, water resources experience, Professional Engineering registration, and/or Arizona Grade 4 Certification in one or more areas of water or wastewater operations is highly desirable.

Technically Proficient

Understand current technologies related to water and wastewater systems, including Automated Meter Reading, SCADA, and Geographic Information Systems.

Knowledgeable in underground construction and design requirements and practices.

Regulatory Expert

Thorough understanding of State and Federal environmental compliance requirements related to water systems, wastewater systems, and water resources, along with the ability to interpret and apply complex regulations in a municipal utilities system.

Collaborative and Professional Public Presence

Able to work across departments, communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners, and represent the Town to the public in a professional and solution-focused manner.

Oversee Operations Division

Responsible for overseeing the Operations Coordinator, the Customer Accounts Division, and personnel. In conjunction with the Operations Coordinator and Customer Accounts Manager, work to solve complex problems, review and recommend billing policies and procedures, set priorities, provide guidance, and provide mentoring and direction.

Full Salary Range $125,549-$188,344. Expected hiring range: $125,549-$133,000. Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. The position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
