What You'll Be Doing

Are you detail-oriented with a passion for real estate and public service? Wake County’s Department of Tax Administration is looking for a Real Property Appraiser to help ensure fair and equitable property valuations across the county. We want you to bring your skills to Wake County, by a ccurately measure and list new construction, a nalyze real estate market trends during county-wide reappraisals and e nsure property valuations comply with NC General Statutes and the Wake County Schedule of Values. You'll work independently while regularly collaborating with citizens, contractors, consultants and local government staff across Wake County’s 14 municipalities. About Our Team

The Department of Tax Administration serves the citizens of Wake County by listing, appraising and assessing real estate and personal property within the County, its fifteen municipalities and related service districts and is responsible for the collection of all current and delinquent taxes on such property excluding registered motor vehicles. In accordance with the County’s reappraisal cycle, the Department conducts a reappraisal of all real estate parcels every four years to establish fair market value and ensure equitable taxation. In addition to property taxes, the Department oversees administration of the County’s Gross Receipts Tax programs including Prepared Food & Beverage, Hotel/Motel Occupancy, Heavy Equipment and Rental Vehicle as well as special assessment collections and various licensing. The Department has the distinction of being a leader in property tax collection in North Carolina and has received numerous accolades for service, leadership and technology innovation. It is the goal of the Wake County Department of Tax Administration to maintain the highest possible level of customer satisfaction while delivering quality performance in the execution of its responsibilities. To accomplish its goal, the Department strives for efficiency to increase productivity and control costs.

Emergency Service Worker Statement
