Department: Public Affairs & Customer Experience

Section: Communications

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

Reports to: Communications Manager

Supervises the following positions: N/A

Promotional opportunity procedures will include the following:

Review of personnel files, including but not limited to: attendance history, disciplinary history, and performance evaluations

DEFINITION : Under general supervision provides canal safety, water science and water-related education to the youth of the Coachella Valley through presentations and activities performed in a classroom or multi-purpose room; provides teacher training on how to incorporate water and related topics into curriculum; promotes, communicates, and provides understanding of water related issues; and performs related work as required.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS : This journey level classification is responsible for independently developing and providing canal safety, water science and water-related education materials, presentations and activities in a classroom or other informational settings. Positions at this level exercise judgment and initiative in their assigned tasks, receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Licenses: Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, to be maintained throughout employment. Possession of a California Teaching Credential, to be maintained throughout employment.

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in education, teaching, communications, or a related field.
Experience : Five (5) years of successful teaching experience.
