Position DescriptionThis position is responsible for assuring smooth operation of the front clinic patient flow. Employees serve as primary contacts for patients and are responsible for scheduling appointments, preparing necessary paperwork before the patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position may responsible for processing charges for clinic services, filing insurance claims, responding to requests for information from patients and insurance companies and maintaining related information for the department. Employees may be responsible for cash.
Major/Essential Functions- Receives all incoming calls, messages, and faxes for the clinic and distributes to the appropriate staff.
- Schedule new and established patients based on the clinic protocols.
- Greets patients at check-in and checkout; assists patients with forms and questions on their accounts and may make appropriate notations on fee sheets.
- Contact patients who have missed appointments.
- Verify and update billing/insurance and/or demographic information.
- Receive payments for services and prepare end-of-day deposits.
- Train Patient Services Specialists in the department.
Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent. 3 years Customer Service, office or related experience, with 2 of those years in a healthcare or dental clinic setting preferred. Additional education may substitute for the experience requirement.
