The Role at a Glance

As a member of the Preparedness Exercise Program, the instructor performs various functions including the design, development, setup, execution, evaluation, and after-action reporting of full-scale, functional, and tabletop exercises and custom training courses. The instructor follows the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) and approved curriculum course outlines. In addition, this position actively participates in course development, review and revision following the TEEX curriculum development process. The instructor also maintains records, reports, and documentation of activities during each course or exercise delivery. They utilize knowledge of adult learning theories and learning styles to help maximize learner success and ensure the overall effectiveness of the course instruction.

This position reports to the Agency Training Manager.

Qualifications of the Role


Equivalency: Will consider an associate’s degree in a related field with two years of experience in a command or leadership role in any combination of the listed emergency response fields or a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Must also have one year of adult education and/or training.
