The Job

San Bernardino County is recruiting for a Supervising Health Information Management Assistant who performs supervisory and administrative support work; plans, organizes and coordinates the work of Health Information Management Assistants, supervises workflow, assists with and reviews work procedures, timelines and quality of electronic health record (EHR) information systems and resolves complex discrepancies and issues for subordinates. Incumbent serves as authoritative source on regulations, healthcare laws and interpretation of policies and guidelines related to release of medical records; performs related duties as required.
The current vacancy exists in the Department of Public Health - Clinic Operations. The list established from this recruitment will be use to fill current and future vacancies as they occur throughout the County.

CLINIC OPERATIONS

Clinic Operations section manages four Federally Qualified Health Centers, two school based services sites and three Public Health Clinics that provide a wide range of low-cost, confidential health services to all residents in San Bernardino County, focusing on disease prevention, chronic disease management and screenings. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required and employees will be required to make provisions for such transportation.

Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation which includes verification of employment history and education, fingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening.

Minimum Requirements

Two and half years (2.5) of full-time equivalent medical clerical experience utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems performing a wide variety of difficult and responsible duties such as, performing quality assurance of medical records, ensuring all release of information activities are compliant with established regulations, correspond to legal requests and ensuring completion of medical chart functions, maintaining indexing and filing systems, retrieving and purging of information in EHR systems.

Experience must be within the last five (5) years.

Desired Qualifications

Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification and medical terminology comprehension is highly desirable.

Lead/supervisory experience is preferred.
