The City of Waco Seeks:
The City of Waco is seeking a knowledgeable Water/Wastewater Operator - Trainer to join our team. The role will be responsible for training and mentoring water and wastewater operation staff to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant plant operations.
Minimum Qualifications;
- H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent and 5 years of treatment plant operations, mechanical and electrical repair, maintenance, and installation experience required.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License required
- Minimum Class A Water Operator License from Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) upon hire required or Minimum Class A Wastewater Treatment Operator License with Surface Water C License from Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) upon hire required.
- Qualified as an instructor for Water or Wastewater classes through TCEQ preferred.
Position Description:
Under basic supervision, performs a combination of basic and semi-skilled work and training in the operation and maintenance of the Water Treatment Plants (WTP) and related facilities.
Essential Functions:
- Provides training for WTP operators of essential functions and critical components of the water treatment plants and related facilities.
- Assists in the operation and maintenance of the WTP facilities and equipment; performs work following all quality standards, safety regulations, and procedures.
- Observes and monitors WTP equipment and process control system; cleans, maintains and adjusts equipment and components to meet WTP specifications; collects samples and checks equipment to verify proper operating conditions; maintains records of services performed.
- Maintains and repairs mechanical equipment and components and performs preventive maintenance as directed; maintains and adjusts equipment to meet job specifications and technical codes; checks equipment to verify proper operating conditions and identify maintenance needs; maintains records of services performed.
- May be required to respond afterhours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City-wide emergency.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
