Description
Position DescriptionThe City of Tacoma is recruiting for the position of Asphalt Plant Crew Leader.
The Asphalt Plant Crew Leader is a lead worker position for the Public Works Department. An employee in this classification is responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of the City's asphalt mixing plant and aggregate storage facilities. Duties include, but are not limited to, operating the asphalt mixing plant, driving/operating a wide variety of equipment, and providing training and work direction to assigned workers to accomplish assigned duties. Work is performed independently after receiving general directions from a Supervisor.
QualificationsTwo (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in the operation and maintenance of asphalt plants
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTSA valid Washington State Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A with Tanker Endorsement and Air Brake removed at time of application with maintenance thereafter
Must obtain a valid flagging and traffic control card and a First Aid and CPR card prior to probation completion with maintenance thereafter

Other Employment Information
Direct Deposit: Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule by direct deposit.
Salary Increases: Based on satisfactory job performance, the City provides for a regular progression of salary increases for most classifications according to the salary schedule.
Union Affiliation: Many job classifications are covered by union security provisions which require union membership, dues, or payment of equivalent service fees.
