Position DescriptionThis position is responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of operations in a correctional facility medical clinic. Employees serve as primary contacts for patients and are responsible for preparing necessary paperwork before patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position may be responsible for coordinating other clinic services, responding to requests for patient information, and maintaining related information for the department. Employees in this classification receive general supervision. Most work is performed according to established procedures; problems of an unusual nature are referred to a supervisor. Work is performed in a medical clinic setting in a correctional facility and may require a high degree of contact with patients, facility staff, and other partners.
Major/Essential Functions- Complies with TDCJ and TTUHSC policy and procedures, including all necessary paperwork.
- Proper record keeping and maintenance.
- Answer sick calls.
- Compile and submit reports.
- Assists with the MD clinic by completing vital signs, obtaining offender history, and providing other assistance as needed.
- Is active in the daily clinics. Duties include, but are not limited to: register/discharge offenders, update/create/delete reminders as appropriate, complete passes for offenders as ordered by the provider.
- Responsible for scheduling appointments for offenders for the clinic.
- Assists the medical records department with duties as deemed necessary, including scanning.
- Other duties as deemed appropriate for skill and/or training level.

Required QualificationsOne (1) year customer service, office, or related experience required. Additional education may substitute for the experience requirement.
