DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The individual will plan, coordinates and directs the activities of groups of workers within the Concrete Repair Section. Analyze and resolve staff, equipment and operating problems and recommend changes to increase efficiency. Prepare, coordinate, update and/or refer work orders to the appropriate entity. Train new employees. Assist with daily operations tasks as needed; drives city vehicle; perform tasks on computer, laptop, or tablet in the field or in the office for daily administrative duties.
WORKING CONDITIONS The position routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters or record boxes (up to 4 pounds) and/or very long periods of walking on rough surfaces on a routine basis. There are routine exposures to significant levels of heat, cold, moisture/wetness and air pollution. The position may involve periodic exposure to chemical substances and physical trauma of a minor nature such as cuts, bruises and minor burns.
This is a Department of Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier I Level. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or a GED.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Four (4) years of progressively responsible work experience in the maintenance field.
Substitution:
A Bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for the experience required.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS Valid Texas Driver's License and compliance with the City of Houston policy on driving (AP 2-2).
