A Skilled Trades Technician I job is available with the City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works/Street Operations Division. The selected candidate will perform skilled maintenance, installation, and fabrication tasks in the area of concrete work. The ideal candidate has extensive knowledge in building forms, setting rebar and dowels, directed concrete pours, and is skilled in all aspects of concrete finishing.
Minimum Qualifications: - High School Diploma/GED.
- Two (2) years of concrete work experience.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Must Pass Drug Screen and Physical
Preferred Qualifications: - Bilingual (English & Spanish)
- Traffic Control (MUTCD) and safety procedures.
- Experience with power tools, hand tools, heavy equipment, and other tools related to concrete work and street maintenance.
The Skilled Trades Technician I job responsibilities include: - Perform skilled concrete work including forming, pouring, and finishing street panels, curbs, sidewalks, and other infrastructure surfaces.
- Read and interpret work orders, plans, and specifications to complete concrete repairs according to city standards and specifications.
- Directs pouring, spades freshly poured concrete and screens surface level with rails or forms.
- Participates in personnel training and works with subordinate personnel to correct deficiencies.
- Document daily work activities, material usage, and time records using tablets or written logs, and follow all safety, PPE, and traffic control guidelines.

Physical Demands Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.
Heavy Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
