DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Supervise a team of Traffic Investigators. Assign /investigate 3-1-1 service requests and respond per established policies and procedures relating to traffic assets. Develop performance measures and tracking methods. Produce productivity and quality reports. Inspire team to achieve performance targets. Prepare and present employee evaluations. Facilitate positive correction action. Assist with daily operations tasks as needed; drives city vehicle.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters or record boxes (up to 40 pounds) and/or very long periods of walking on rough surfaces on a routine basis. There are routine exposures to significant levels of heat, cold, moisture/wetness and air pollution. The position may involve periodic exposure to chemical substances and physical trauma of a minor nature such as cuts, bruises and minor burns.

This is a Houston Public Works Emergency Management Position at the Tier II Level

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a high school diploma or a GED.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Four years of experience in traffic and street utilization investigations are required.

An Associate’s degree in Drafting, Construction Management or a field related to the work being performed may substitute for two year of the education requirement.

A Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the work being performed may substitute for the education and experience requirements.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Requires a valid Texas driver’s license and compliance with the City of Houston’s policy on driving.

PREFERENCES

Preference will be given to individuals with experience in investigating service requests relating to traffic assets and their ability to work with service request/work order systems.

**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**
