Position Description

The City of Tacoma is seeking a Fire Maintenance Electrician to join ourteam at the Tacoma Fire Department.You will play a crucial role in supporting public safety by installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical equipment in the fire communication system and electrical systems in fire department buildings. The job classification of Fire Maintenance Electrician is classified and represented by Local 483 IBEW.

Qualifications

An equivalent combination to: graduation from high school or trade school, supplemented by training in electrical, electronics and mechanical work and one year experience as a journey-level electrician in a field related to fire communications systems. Completion of a six-month certified fiber optic school or six months on the job experience with fiber optics.

Other Employment Information

Direct Deposit: Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule by direct deposit.

Salary Increases: Based on satisfactory job performance, the City provides for a regular progression of salary increases for most classifications according to the salary schedule.

Union Affiliation: Many job classifications are covered by union security provisions which require union membership, dues, or payment of equivalent service fees.
