Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) has two available Mechanical Repairer position in the Mechanical Repair Shop. This job is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and overhauling a wide variety of mechanical systems, including security gates, conveyor belts, fire doors, ADA-compliant entrances, dock levelers, sump pumps, and small engines. Duties include performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring the safe, efficient operation of critical systems across the facility.

Two (2) Positions, 9/80 Schedule, Day Shift

Candidate must possess and maintain a valid CA Driver’s License and must be able to operate a City vehicle during the course of employment. An active LAWA Security Badge is required at all times.

REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Two years of full-time paid experience at the helper level performing mechanical repair work. Completion of the Los Angeles Trade Tech Air-Cooled Engine curriculum may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.

Emergency Appointment

An emergency appointment is not a regular appointment. It is a temporary appointment which does not require that you successfully compete in the Civil Service examination process. The appointment may not exceed one year and must be terminated immediately when a regular appointment can be made from an eligible list. No emergency appointment can exceed one year. (City Charter Section 1013).
