DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The City of Houston Human Resources Department seeks a dynamic, independently self-sufficient, customer-focused, and technologically savvy Senior Human Resources Generalist. The candidate selected for this position will work collaboratively within the Human Resources Operations, Shared Services Division, supporting the Houston Fire Department (HFD) as a business partner and point-of-contact to provide superior human resources services.

The candidate selected for the position will be responsible for the following:


WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort in a normal office environment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Social Science, Liberal Arts, or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Three years of related professional experience in human resources are required.
Pertinent experience at the professional level may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
None

PREFERENCES

The preferred candidate for the Human Resources Department must demonstrate leadership potential, be customer-focused, and possess excellent problem-solving, organizational, communication, and people skills. Strong presentation skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office, as well as SAP, are preferred.

**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**
