Education and Experience : A Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Systems or related field and two (2) years of project management experience of small scale add-on systems or services in an IT environment or an Associate's Degree in Information Systems or related field and four (4) years of project management experience of small scale add-on systems or services in an IT environment.

Licenses and Certificates: Valid Class "C" Driver License or equivalent from another state .

Special Requirements : Be available for work beyond standard workday or workweek hours as necessary .

Special Requirements : Applicants for positions assigned to the Department of Information Technology Services must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) finger-print based background check within the first six months from hire and maintain CJIS eligibility. CJIS requirements are related to system access and the following list of convictions and/or deferred adjudications will result in failure of the CJIS background check and disqualification and termination from employment: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A & B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and Family Violence Convictions.

General Purpose

Under supervision, provide entry level project management work coordinating one or more small or less complex projects through the project's lifecycle and implementation .

Typical Duties

Coordinate assigned projects. Involves meeting diverse stakeholder expectations and coordinating cross functional project team activities. Consult with managers or other technical experts in specific subject areas to obtain clarification of expected results . Review project scope to identify required training and resources . Identify project objectives and deliverables. Select mand use project management tools and techniques to monitor project goals and objectives. Coordinate with stake holder and user department personnel during every phase of the project. Develop and implement plans to communicate with the involved project stakeholders. Assist with the creation of reports, work queues, and ongoing system testing for the department. Substitute for own supervisor, co-workers or subordinates during temporary absences as qualified by carrying out specified duties to maintain continuity of normal operations, if assigned.

Coordinate activities of interdisciplinary project teams with participating City departments, consultants, vendors, contractors, and subcontractors in the implementation and deployment of technology projects . Monitor the progress of work assignments . Report on project progress and potential schedule slippages . Document changes and updates to schedules and budgets . Track budget expenditures, and prepare project budget reports. Identify efficient methods to accomplish work tasks. Administer project contracts; monitor and evaluate contractor performance.

Maintain clear communication with project team members and stakeholders. Coordinate project team meetings. Prepare project status reports . Perform miscellaneous related duties as required. Includes: Conduct, compile, and summarize research, and provide oral and written reports related to project implementation.
