Vacation & Sick Leave

At the City of Buckeye, we understand the vital role that vacation time plays in supporting the mental, physical, and emotional well-being of our employees. Vacation and sick leave accruals begin on the first day of employment and may be used upon accrual. Additionally, employees receive credit towards vacation leave accruals for years of service with other public sector retirement systems nationwide (not including Federal service).

Holidays

The City of Buckeye observes eleven holidays per year: New Years Day, Martin Luther King Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving and the day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.

Retirement
This position participates in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Contribution is mandatory, and the current contribution rate is 12%, per fiscal year.

GENERAL PURPOSE: Under general supervision, perform semi-skilled and skilled activities in signing and pavement marking maintenance and installation, and equipment operations.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED equivalent and four (4) years’ experience with striping and sign installation; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have at the time of hire valid International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Signs and Pavement Markings Technician Level I. Within first year of hire obtain ATTSA Traffic Control Flagger Certification. All certifications must be kept current.

Special Requirements: Possession of a valid Arizona Driver’s License. Arizona Commercial Driver’s License Class B (CDL) including appropriate endorsements within one (1) year of hire. Required to participate in rotating after-hours standby schedule to ensure timely response to urgent maintenance needs.
Physical Demands / Work Environment: Work is performed outdoors. Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to fifty (50) pounds or more as needed to perform job duties.

Supervision Exercised: Signs and Markings staff as needed
