Job Description:

Purpose:

This position performs highly skilled construction and maintenance work in one or more specialized programs, incorporating standard construction and maintenance techniques to produce a finished product to required standards.

Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus two (2) years' experience in maintenance and/or construction, including 6 months' experience in operation of heavy-duty equipment. One (1) year of additional related experience may substitute for one (1) year of high school, up to a maximum of four (4) years.

This position will report to the Open Waterways section of the Operations Division.

SALARY RANGE :
Drainage Operations and Maintenance II

Min: $23.44 - Mid: $26.83

PHYSICAL WORK LOCATION:

9200 Sherman Rd., Austin, TX 78742

DAYS AND HOURS:

40 hours per week - Monday - Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

May require working outside of normal business hours as dictated by business needs. In addition, work schedule may change to a rotating shift during weather events. Must be agreeable to accepting on-call assignments which might result in a call-back to work.

ESSENTIAL STATUS:
This position has been designated as an Essential Employee position. In the event of a city-designated extraordinary situation or emergency condition, essential employees provide services that impact the public health, safety, utility services, and welfare of members of the Austin community and other employees, as well as ensure the continuity of essential operations. Essential Employees may be called back in during such events, required to modify their schedule, assigned to a city-designated work site, or retained on-site to assist with operations and recovery.

RETENTION INCENTIVE BONUS :
This position may be eligible to participate in the Watershed Protection Department Employee Retention Incentive Plan intended to compensate regular full-time employees in field operations and engineering specific titles. You may receive a bonus of up to $5000! The payment schedule is:

DRIVING REQUIREMENT :
This position requires a v alid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) . Must maintain a good driving record. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation ( DRE ) requisite . To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.
