POSITION OVERVIEW

PURPOSE OF DIVISION
The purpose of Houston Airport System (HAS) Maintenance, Airside Operations and Maintenance business unit is to effectively deliver self-performed maintenance services at each of the three HAS airports.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Houston Airport System AOM, Airport Superintendent (Airfield), is responsible to the IAH Division Manager, Airside Operations and Maintenance, for the effective delivery of self-performed FAR 139 required third shift maintenance activities such as paint and markings, pavement/concrete repairs, and when required landside Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) repairs. All work performed by the business unit is executed to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), State and Local regulations and requirements. This position will be assigned duties at all Houston Airport System facilities including IAH, HOU, and EFD.

"Must be able to pass a criminal background check, obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances where required. Candidates must be able to obtain all security required badge access including Custom Border Patrol access within 6 months from the hire date.”

The Airport Superintendent responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: WORK ENVIRONMENT
The position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There is only a slight source of discomfort from exposure to less-than-optimal temperature and air conditions. The position may involve dealing with situations where occasional exposure to office chemicals and/or periodic use of a video display terminal is required. Requires the ability to make simple gross motor responses within large tolerances.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Public Administration, Aviation Management, Business Administration or related field.

High school diploma and Ten years of responsible experience in Airport operation and/or Maintenance of a Civil Airport, preferably with at least Four years in a supervisory capacity, may be substituted for the above requirements.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Six years of progressively responsible experience in Airport Operations and/or Maintenance of an Airport or comparable facility are required, preferably with at least Three of those years in a supervisory capacity.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and comply with the City of Houston’s policy on driving .

PREFERENCES

**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**
