Job Description:

Purpose:

Under limited supervision, using independent discretion and judgment, works within a specialized function or a specific area of administrative and staff support.

The Administrative Specialist will serve as the first point of contact for residents reaching out to Street and Bridge Operations. Responsibilities include creating work orders, responding to inquiries, conducting research using the work order management system, performing data entry, and providing administrative support to the Infrastructure Operations Division. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent attendance and exceptional customer service skills.

Driving Requirements:
This position requires a valid Texas driver’s license or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisite.
To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months .

90 Day Provision for Additional Vacancy:

This posting may be used to fill other vacancies in other sections within the Division. Decisions on the assigned section will be made at the time of hire based on business needs.

PLEASE NOTE: Austin Transportation and Public Works positions are not at 100% remote operation.

Essential Employee:

This position is considered an “Essential” role and is essential to the operations of the City based on the preparation, response, and recovery phase of extraordinary situations or emergency conditions. As an employee that has been designated as “Essential” the expectation will be to work at a designated work site during declared extraordinary situations or emergency conditions to serve the community.

This position is considered “Essential” to maintain critical operations and core services. Essential Employees during emergencies play a role in ensuring the public health, safety, and welfare of our community and ensuring City operations continue.
