McDowell Sonoran Preserve-a natural treasure spanning over 30,000 acres, with 10 trailheads, and more than 230 miles of scenic trails.

The ideal candidate will have experience in:
- Planting and pruning trees and shrubs using best practices aligned with Arizona Landscape Professional standards
- Calibrating and applying herbicides
- Monitoring park areas, cleaning ramadas, and maintaining parks and surrounding facilities to ensure a safe, litter-free environment
- Performing groundskeeping duties like trash pickup, raking, trimming, and fertilizing park and Preserve grounds
- Keeping detailed logs of daily activities and time spent on each task
- Operating hand tools and driving city vehicles, including EZ-GO carts
Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $26.54/hour. The City of Scottsdale offers a comprehensive benefits package including:

Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience: - A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
- One year of experience at the Maintenance Worker I level or equivalent experience in the areas of public works, grounds, or landscape maintenance.
Licensing, Certifications, and Other Requirements: - Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date. The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona.
- Note: Graduated Driver’s Licenses are considered restricted
- Within six months of hire, an Arizona Pest Control Applicator certification possessing Category 1 (Industrial and Institutional), Category 3 (Ornamental & Turf) and Category 4 (Right-of-Way) must be obtained.
- Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
