FSH is known for evidence-based treatment and innovative practices. The Recovery and Self-Motivation Program (RSM) serves 75 clients within a high security setting and was overhauled and re-implemented in 2019. The program’s population typically includes clients experiencing psychotic disorders or major mood disorders who may also have a primary or secondary personality disorder. Our primary focus is providing psychiatric rehabilitation through a nurturing and safe environment that fosters recovery. Our ultimate goal is to promote social connection and target prosocial values to help move these individuals toward self-management and reintegration into the community. The Recovery and Self-Motivation Program treats these individuals using a combination of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Prosocial Principles, while incorporating Restorative Justice practices.

Fulton State Hospital is seeking to fill the position of Program Director for the Recovery and Self-Motivation Program (RSM) in the Nixon Forensic Center. The Program Director will direct the ongoing development and implement ation of RSM, including providing supervision, training, and coordination of program services and resources. They will be responsible for evaluating the fidelity of the program’s operations and measuring its effectiveness. They will work closely with the Hospital’s Director of Treatment Services. This is a highly responsible, challenging, and rewarding position.

Duties include but are not limited to: writing and revising program manuals and training materials; interviewing, hiring, and training prospective staff; observing program activities and providing feedback to staff; leading program meetings; attending treatment team meetings; providing clinical direction to staff in designing interventions for clients with extremely challenging behaviors; and serving as a member of committees. Duties may also include conducting individual and group psychotherapy. Qualified mental health professionals who are skillful, creative, and dedicated to the delivery of evidence-based treatment would be ideally suited to this position.
