Job Description:
Senior Civil Engineer or Assistant/Associate Engineer
Description
DESCRIPTIONThe Town of
Truckee is seeking an experienced, highly-motivated, collaborative team member
to play a vital role in the Town’s Engineering Division. The primary focus of
this position advertisement is to find a key team member to join the Division
in the Senior Engineer role. However, the position may be filled at the
Senior, Associate, or Assistant Engineer level, depending on the experience and
qualifications of the selected candidate.
The Engineering Division works
on the implementation of a variety of projects including new trails,
roundabouts, streetscape improvements, roadway infrastructure, and
miscellaneous Council priorities, such as new parks or new Town facility
infrastructure. The Engineer will be involved in the planning, design,
permitting, and construction oversight of a variety of these types of Capital
Improvement Projects. On the private development side, the Division
oversees the design and construction of site improvements associated with
private development, such as the recent Raley’s shopping center, High Altitude
Fitness, Truckee Lumber Yard development, and affordable housing projects.
Th position leads all private development for the Engineering Division by managing
commercial private development projects with varying levels of direction from the
Engineering Manager, taking projects from inception and land use entitlement,
through building permit processing and construction. Other responsibilities
include administering grant funds when applicable, and responding to community
requests related to the Engineering Division’s responsibilities, such as sign
requests, drainage issues, or traffic concerns.
The distinction between the
Senior level and the Assistant/Associate level is the ability to perform the
full range of duties assigned with direction from the Engineering Manager,
level of oversight expected, and the Senior Engineer’s responsibility to
supervise other engineering staff. In addition, both the Senior and
Associate levels require current registration as a licensed professional
engineer in the State of California.
The ideal candidate has experience in various facets of engineering such as plan review, site design, construction inspection, stormwater management, government processes, and traffic engineering, as well as good supervisory and communication skills for both one-on-one conversations and public presentations. Our Engineering team values teamwork, communication, service, fairness, and fun. We look forward to welcoming a new member to the team!
