Performs technical building and grounds maintenance work at various Partnership Health Center (PHC) facilities.
Representative Examples of WorkMaintains familiarity with PHC building structures, envelopes and systems. Performs building “walk- arounds” and reports any maintenance issues or unsafe conditions to the supervisor. Uses computerized systems to monitor preventive maintenance schedules and monitor or adjust computerized control systems.
Performs preventive maintenance on hydronic circuits and boilers and adds chemical treatment as needed.
Maintains and performs preventative maintenance on building access control systems. Maintains and performs preventive maintenance on heating and air conditioning systems and maintains room temperatures in accordance with applicable laws; changes filters, replaces belts and lubes moving parts. Performs maintenance, and re-lamping fixture replacement on lighting systems. Cleans fixtures, vents and registers. Takes measures for pest control. Assists with fire extinguisher maintenance.
Assists with maintenance and repairs at satellite locations that are leased and operated by PHC.
Performs work to troubleshoot and repair specialized building systems including: fire and security systems; grounds irrigation systems, elevator systems, HVAC systems, boiler systems, generator system (Creamery), doors, locks, and door access systems, video security systems. If the repair needed is extensive, reports problems to supervisor and assists with vendor recommendation and/or selection. Makes plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and minor welding repairs or improvements.
Monitors supply inventory, maintains computerized records, and notifies the supervisor when supplies or parts are needed; places orders for supplies. Adheres to tool control policy.
Performs work to make changes in office layout in accordance with facility plans. Moves office furniture, files and equipment as needed.
May escort or oversee vendors in PHC facilities to ensure compliance with safety and security requirements. Picks up supplies or materials as required.
Performs grounds maintenance including snow removal, de-icing; lawn maintenance and work on lawn sprinkler systems.
Maintains exterior grounds, picks up trash, cleans parking lots, maintains exterior lighting.
OTHER DUTIESPerforms related work as required or directed. May assist in training new PHC facilities employees.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED : Works under general supervision of the Director of Business Development.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED : None.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS : Has regular contact with personnel at all levels in PHC departments for the purpose of coordinating or advising on work efforts. Has frequent contact with outside supply and service vendors.
Minimum QualificationsAn equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
EDUCATION/TRAINING: Requires high school graduation or GED, and training or education demonstrating achievement of one of the following:
1. Completion of a 1-year Building Operator’s program.
2. Completion of a 2-year Building Engineer’s program.
3. Current journey level license in Plumbing.
4. Current journey level license in Electrical.
5. A current fire prevention license.
6. Certificate or other evidence of completing HVAC training.
EXPERIENCE: Requires two years of experience as a building operator, technician, or any other position that requires facilities maintenance.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Subject to passing a criminal background investigation that will require fingerprinting. Requires immunizations or proof of immunity to certain infectious diseases and a TB test. Must possess a valid Montana Driver’s License. New employees will be asked to volunteer vaccination status for required vaccines upon hire and will be offered assistance during hiring to receive necessary immunizations. Employees who have not received the vaccines required for their positions or who are unwilling to voluntarily provide vaccination status for required vaccines will receive a reasonable accommodation where such accommodation does not require an undue hardship or endanger the health or safely of any person.
Physical/Environmental DemandsThe work is performed at a wide variety of PHC facilities including but not limited to: PHC Creamery, PHC Alder, PHC at the Food Bank, PHC Lowell, PHC at Watershed, PHC Seeley Clinic, PHC at the Poverello Center. The work requires considerable physical activity, occasionally in adverse weather conditions, and in facilities in various states of repair. Requires frequent walking, stooping, bending, climbing of stairs and high ladders, and lifting of moderate to very heavy objects (50 to 100 plus pounds) with the use of mechanical or people assists. The work requires the physical ability to operate a vehicle, lawn maintenance equipment and snow removal equipment. Requires work outside of the normal workday and the employee will be subject to on-call assignments that require carrying a cell phone. Work may cause exposure to health threats such as sewage and blood-borne pathogens. Will require some nights and weekends, including a Saturday shift. This position is not eligible for remote work.

Sheriffs' Retirement System (SRS)- A public pension plan for all Montana Sheriffs hired after July 1, 1974 and Detention Officers hired after July 1, 2005.

Sick Leave- Full-time employees accrue 7.38hours per month and are eligible to use sick leave once you have been an employee for 90 days.The accrual is pro-rated for part-time employees.
Vacation Leave- Full-time employees accrue 9.24 hours per month and are eligible to use leave after continuous employment for a period of 6 full months. The accrual is pro-rated for part-time employees.
Holidays- The County observes eleven legal holidays in even numbered years and ten legal holidays in odd numbered years.
Paid Parental Leave (PPL)-In recognition of the importance of bonding and care of a newborn child or a child placed for adoption, Missoula County 6 continuous weeks of PPL to eligible full-time employees that have been with the county for 180 days. The hours are pro-rated for part-time employees.
