Description
The Metropolitan Water District's Office of Safety, Security, and Protection Group is currently recruiting for two (2) Associate Security Specialist positions. These positions are located at the Soto Street facility in Los Angeles, CA and the Robert B. Diemer Water Treatment Plant in Yorba Linda, CA (one opening at each location).
This recruitment will be used to build an Eligibility List, which will remain valid for six months from the date a candidate accepts a position. Each Associate Security Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the protection of Metropolitan’s assets, employees, and visitors. The Los Angeles-based specialist will be primarily assigned to the Soto Street facility, overseeing Union Station headquarters, the Pure Water Program in Carson, and performing additional responsibilities at sites throughout Los Angeles County. The Yorba Linda-based specialist will be assigned to the Diemer facility and will also support conveyance and distribution facilities across Orange County.
The Associate Security Specialists will serve as subject matter experts in the security disciplines of physical security (including large-scale infrastructure protection), investigations, and loss prevention. They will lead and oversee regular, temporary, and contract security personnel across multiple facilities, coordinating and reviewing daily work assignments.
Schedule: 9/80, Monday through Friday with every other Friday off. Monday through Thursday 9 hours per day (7:00am-5:00pm), 8 hours per day every other Friday (7:00am-4:00pm)
In this position, the Associate Security Specialist will be required to demonstrate the ability to respond effectively to pressing and demanding situations; perform well under pressure; serve as the Special Agent on Duty on a weekly rotational basis with 24-hour standby duty pay; communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing; and exercise sound judgment in challenging circumstances.
To view the full job description click here: Associate Security Specialist EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: High school diploma or certificate of high school equivalency and nine years of relevant experience; or an associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and seven years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and five years of relevant experience.
Relevant Experience is defined as: working experience performing investigations; and working as professional security or law enforcement with a role directly related to providing large scale infrastructure protection.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
