This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of State Parks, and will be located at Long Branch State Park, 28615 Visitor Center Road, Macon, MO. This position typically works 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday, during the off-season (November 1st through March 31st) and Friday through Tuesday, during the on-season (April 1st through October 31st). Shifts may vary occasionally with the time of year and to meet the needs of the facility. This position will require working weekends, nights, holidays, and special events as necessary.

• This position will perform basic management duties related to the overall operation, maintenance, and visitor services of Long Branch State Park with an emphasis on park, marina, and store business operations, visitor services management, volunteer coordinator, interpretation, and special event coordination.
• Serve as the lead on-site supervisor in the absence of the Park Superintendent. This may include management of hiring, scheduling, and training of campground hosts and other seasonal employees to clean and maintain the campground and camper cabins.
• Participate in planning and directing natural or cultural history interpretation, resource management and research for Long Branch State Park.
• Utilize computer and various software applications including Microsoft Office.
• Maintain fiscal records and track expense and equipment budgets.
• Assist with and monitor accounts payable for the park, fee and revenue collections, supplies and service requisitions, retail sales operations, and the preparation of associated reports. Process and complete bank deposits in accordance with policy and procedure.
• Maintain and assist with scheduling and billing for shelters, group camps, and special use areas.
• Assist with collecting and analyzing data relating to state park facility budget; provides recommendations relating to operational expenditures, visitor services, equipment/supply/service procurement, and facility expansion and repair.
• Greets the public and providing information and guidance to park visitors, and staff.
• Cleaning of park buildings, restrooms, campsites, and park grounds.
• Educate and enforce park/site rules and regulations.
• Participate in meetings, workshops and seminars requiring occasional travel and overnight stays.
• Assist with prescribed burns, wildfire suppression, herbicide application, and other natural or cultural activities as directed with the completion of Level 1 Prescribed Fire training.
• Must be able to work rotating shifts that include weekends, evenings, holidays as needed to respond to incidents and to visitors’ needs at the park.
• Maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license to operate and maintain licensed vehicles, as well as tractors, mowers, skid steer, and other grounds related equipment.
• This position will be working with a diverse client base, including members of the public and other park staff. The ability to work well with others, willingness to learn, and a positive outlook will assist the candidate in being successful in this position.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university can include: Park Management, Parks and Recreation, Wildlife Management, Forestry, Botany, Biology, Natural Sciences, Business of Public Administration or related field. (Additional education or experience may substitute for the required education or experience)

Other Preferred Qualifications and Experience/Special Job Requirements

• Required to work at least two weekends per month during the “On-Season” which is April 1 - October 31.
• Must be able to work well with little direct supervision.
• Must be able to work with outside agencies and landowners regarding issues related to State Parks.
• Must be able to speak and give presentations at public meetings and events.
• Ability to operate a vehicle and maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license.
• Available to work nights, weekends, holidays, evenings, and split shifts.
• Available to participate in special events, meetings, workshops and seminars requiring overnight stays.
• Candidate will be required to successfully complete both the Division of State Parks Basic Fire Training and Federal S-130/190 courses within one year (The Fire Operations Coordinator may approve substitute trainings.)
• Proficient with current technology and ability to use computer programs to manage and present reports, proposals and professional communications with both team members and the public.
• Training, certification, and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma as well as completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Academy, and similar programs is preferred.
