The Position

The City of Riverside, Finance Department is accepting applications for the position of Senior Accountant to fill one (1) vacancy.The eligibility list established may be used to fill the current and/or upcoming vacancies within this classification for up to six (6) months.

This Senior Accountant position will be responsible for various duties within the Compliance and Reporting Division of the Finance Department. This position may assist with preparation and review of several stand-alone financial statements for individual funds; the preparation, review, and filing for any compliance and reporting requirements; assist with the coordination of audit related activities with other City departments, and outside agencies; assist with research and implementation of new Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements; assist with fiscal month-end and year-end closing; prepare and review journal entries; prepare various cash reconciliations; and prepare quarterly investment reports.

Under general supervision, a Senior Accountant will perform advanced professional accounting work in the maintenance and review of fiscal records and preparation of financial reports; supervise clerical and subordinate accounting personnel; and will do related work as required.

For positions indicating a salary range from 1N - 2X, the top 15% of the pay range cannot be offered upon hire or upon an employee promotion.

Qualifications

Education:
Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major work in accounting or business administration.

Experience:
Three years of experience in governmental or commercial accounting preferably including one year in a supervisory capacity.
