ABOUT THE POSITION

Clark County Social Services Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for Family Service Assistant. This position will provide support to the STAR programs and assisting case management with day-to-day duties. The candidate should be familiar with clients who face unique challenges and have been diagnosed medical conditions, mental health disorders, substance use disorders, or co-occurring disorders. In addition, the candidate should have great communication skills and the ability to adapt to the needs of the programs. The candidate should possess strong organizational skills as well as the ability to problem solve and work independently.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience: Equivalent to graduation from high school and one year full-time experience working with and caring for youth, families, adults and/or seniors in a human service program setting. Thirty (30) semester units of college level course work in child development, nursing or behavioral science may be substituted for 6 months of the required experience.

All qualifying education and each experience must be clearly documented in the “Education” and “Work Experience” sections of the application. Working Conditions: Work in a variety of homes and living situations. Some positions may require possession of a personal vehicle, which may be used for work purposes.

Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver's License at time of appointment.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug test.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

General Family Services Tasks Performed in All Positions In the Department of Family Services (DFS) , the Family Services Assistant functions as a support position to each unit in which it is assigned. Due to the diverse utilization of the position, incumbents in this classification may be assigned to any of the following units.

Permanency Case Management (Out of Home, In-Home and Adoptions) Resource Development and Support Child Receiving/Placement and Medical Case Management Independent Living In the Social Service Department The Family Services Assistant

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Strength and mobility to work in a typical home or office setting to include standing and/or walking for an extended period of time, and strength to restrain and/or eject individuals; drives a motor vehicle for travel to client residences, appointments, and to run errands; vision to read printed materials; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
