SUMMARY

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Southern California Regional Rail Authority, the operator of the METROLINK Commuter Rail System, is seeking a temporary Special Services Employee (SSE) - Inventory Control Operator II to support the day-to-day operation of the material warehouses and storage. This position will assist with managing Metrolink’s inventory levels and flow by tracking, maintaining, ordering, and inspecting inventory.

This position will be located at SCRRA's Melbourne Facility, 2700 Melbourne Ave, Pomona, CA 91767, with travel to other Metrolink locations, including Metrolink main office in Downtown Los Angeles. The facility hours of operations are 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The employee may be required to be on-call. The scheduled hours for this position vary and will include days or nights any day of the week, including holidays.

This is a temporary assignment, expected to last two months or longer, with a work schedule of estimate 40 hours per week. This temporary at-will employment will be for the duration of the assignment or not to exceed 999 hours in a fiscal year July 1-June 30, whichever comes first.

This is the career level of the Inventory Control Operator series. At this level, the incumbent has some latitude for independent judgment and may vary work methods and procedures, but usually within prescribed parameters.

Working Conditions

Position requires work in a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, or temperature. Work may also be conducted in outdoor environments, at construction sites, Railroad Track and Right-of-Way environments, and warehouse environments, with possible exposure to individuals who are hostile or irate, moving mechanical parts, and loud noises (85+ decibels, such as heavy trucks, construction, etc.)

SCRRA offers you and your immediate and dependent family members confidential counseling 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for family, personal, work-related and substance abuse issues through the EAP. You are entitled to a telephone session(s) with a trained EAP professional to assess the nature of the problem and provide a referral for additional assistance, if needed. Services also include three (3) face-to-face counseling sessions per family member per six (6) month period.
