Workdays & Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm - Ability to work from home one day per week after the probationary period, based on departmental needs.

A Web Designer position is available with the City of Fort Worth's Communications & Public Engagement Department. We are seeking a Web Designer with Content Management System (CMS) experience to join our team. The Web Designer will be responsible for developing and maintaining our municipal website and creative content, using the current CMS Granicus/OpenCities as well as any future potential hosting platforms. The selected individual must have experience in coding, creating and maintaining a wide range of webpages, customizable templates, and integrations with other software to assist the City in creating and maintaining a professional and user-friendly online presence for residents and visitors.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in web design, graphic design, computer science, or a related field
- Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in web design, marketing, communications, or a closely related field
- Valid Texas Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in content management systems
- Experience in user experience/user inferface (UX/UI) and ADA Compliance
- Experience with and knowledge understanding various programming languages: HTML5, CSS, SCSS, JSON, JQuery and JavaScript
- Public sector experience
- Experience in Granicus/OpenCities platforms, including experience with open-source website management tools and the knowledge of basic underlying codebase which allows for more flexibility and control over the website's functionality
- NET programming (C#, ASP.NET), Bootstrap
- Experience using and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud
- Rest API with Basic Authentication, HMAC Authentication, RSS/Atom feeds
- Canva knowledge and experience
- Email design/marketing experience
The Web Designer job responsibilities include: - Responsible for the development, creative design and layout of public and intranet websites within the CMS
- Maintains and develops websites with visual design that prioritizes quality user experience, ensuring web properties conform to accessibility requirements set by the federal government and World Wide Web Consortium
- Develops and implements user experience/user inferface (UI/UX) designs and ongoing maintenance within branding guidelines and ADA compliance
- Works closely with the Information Technology Department staff, internal web developers and outside contractors to identify web content and functionality needs
- Works with internal teams and external partners to support the development of engaging and effective web content that supports digital news, program initiatives, and campaigns that align with the City of Fort Worth's brand and messaging
- Tracks website analytics to create reports for administration and inform content direction
- Evaluates and updates existing webpages for correctness, relevance, SEO and visual appeal
- Must be detail-oriented and self-driven with the ability to manage many projects simultaneously for various departments
- Provide hands-on training and support for departmental content developers citywide
