Description

Distinguishing Features of the Class

The Clean Water Program Administrator is responsible for managing the Sewer Enterprise Division of the Public Works Department; performs directly related work as required. A principal function of this class is preparing policies, procedures and ordinances which implement the storm and sanitary utilities overall goals in compliance with City Council policy. This position will establish priorities and formulate policies to guide subordinate staff member(s) in the implementation of departmental programs. The work is performed under the general direction of the Public Works Director but extensive leeway is granted for the exercise of independent judgement and initiative. The nature of the work performed requires that an employee in this class establish and maintain effective working relationships with other City employees, neighborhood groups, city council, business and community groups, consultants, outside contractors, state and federal officials, representatives of the media and the public. The principal duties of this class are performed both outside in the field and in a general office environment.
