Meter Services Specialist I (Part-Time, PERS Eligible)*
Description
Position Overview *This posting is limited to the first 150 applications received by Human Resources and will close without notice after that limit has been reached. The City of Henderson announces an examination to create a consideration for hire list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the part-time classification of Meter Services Specialist I in the Department of Utility Services. The consideration for hire list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year.
Under general supervision, performs duties in meter reading, meter maintenance, Automatic Meter Reading (AMR)/Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), customer response, and conservation awareness relating to water in the Department of Utility Services; performs related duties as assigned.
Position Details: - This is a part-time, PERS eligible position.
- The work schedule will consist of an average of 29 hours/week. Hours per week may increase or decrease based on Department needs.
- This position does not qualify for employer-paid benefits (other than PERS), wage increases, or union representation.

Minimum Qualifications- Graduation from high school or the equivalent
- One (1) year of full-time work experience in public water utility, including customer service responsibilities, AMR/AMI, or meter repair and replacement; work experience must have included direct customer/public contact
- Note: An equivalent combination of related education, experience, and training may be considered
- Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or “border state” driver’s license, as defined by NRS 483
- Incumbent must obtain a State of Nevada Water Distribution Operator Grade I Certification, or higher, within eighteen (18) months of hire
- Must obtain and maintain the appropriate OSHA card as defined by the Nevada Revised Statue (NRS 618.950)
- All required licenses and certificates, as mandated by federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, or as required herein, must be obtained at incumbent’s expense
- Employee must maintain certificates and licenses for the position in good standing as a condition of continued employment
- Employee may be expected to obtain certification and/or training through the City of Henderson in confined space entry
- Desirable: State of Nevada Water Distribution Operator Grade I Certification at time of hire
- Desirable: AWWA OR American Backflow Prevention Association (ABPA) Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Certification

WORK WEEK - Four-day, 9.5-hour workday, 38-hour work week
